We’re thrilled to share that the Roe Lab is officially beginning. Over the next few weeks we’ll be getting the lab up and running — setting up space, ordering the essentials, and kicking off our first experiments.

This is the start of a new adventure, and we invite you to join us as we build, learn, and share updates along the way.

After years working together in the Schepartz lab as a graduate and undergraduate student team, Leah and Arjun are moving on to exciting new roles.

We’re celebrating two big milestones: Leah Tang Roe and Arjun Garapaty have graduated from UC Berkeley!

After working side-by-side for years, the foundation they built together helped shape the acyl chemistry based protein editing approaches that the Roe Lab focuses on today. Their time working together was fueled by intense dedication to curiosity driven research, hard work, plenty of joy/humor/fun, and always showing up to help each other take the next career step.

Leah is moving to UCSF as a QBI Faculty Fellow, where she’ll be launching her own independent research group.

Arjun is heading to Harvard as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department.
